Business Name Pre-Search in Canada
Supervised by a professional lawyer
Before you pay for a NUANS report or a name reservation, a pre-search checks whether your proposed corporate name is likely to clash with existing corporations and trademarks. We run the check, flag conflicts and suggest adjustments — so the name you file is the one that gets approved.
Why pre-search your business name
Catch conflicts early
We compare your proposed names against existing corporate names and registered trademarks before you commit to a brand, website or signage.
Then report or reserve
Once a name looks clear, we move on to the step your jurisdiction requires — a NUANS report (Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick) or a direct name reservation (such as British Columbia, Saskatchewan or Manitoba).
Know the time limits
Approved names are held for a limited time — 90 days federally and in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Nova Scotia, 56 days in BC. Ontario does not reserve names, so file promptly.
